Massive Multiuser MIMO in Heterogeneous Cellular Networks With Full Duplex Small Cells

Abstract: Full duplex (FD) communication has emerged as an attractive solution for increasing the network throughput, by allowing downlink (DL) and uplink (UL) transmissions in the same spectrum. However, only employing FD base stations in heterogeneous cellular networks (HCNs) cause coverage reduction, due to the DL and UL interferences as well as the residual loop interference. We therefore propose HCNs with half duplex (HD) massive multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) macrocell base stations (MBSs) to rela… Show more

“…For the FU and D2D links, the coverage probabilities are changing monotonously with p m and R. Specially, the coverage probabilities are decreasing with the increase of p m . “…In the work of Zhou et al, the user association in massive MIMO–enabled HetNets has been investigated in detail. In the work of Akbar et al, to improve the spectrum efficiency of small cells and restrict the interference from MBSs, an improved scheme was proposed by exploiting full duplex (FD) in SBSs. In the work of Hao et al, the small‐cell cluster‐based resource management has been proposed.…”
