Mass tourism and the US National Park Service system.

Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of mass tourism as it relates to the National Park Service (NPS) in the USA. This includes a synthesis of concession policies and procedures of the US NPS and a focus on the quality, variety and type of service delivery for visitors. In addition, the benefits and impacts of tourism within the NPS are discussed, with a focus on some of the most visited national parks within the system.
