Mass spectrometric determination of ribosyl trans-zeatin from sweet potato tubers (Ipomoea batatas L. cv. Kohkei No. 14).

Abstract: The presence of ribosyl trans-zeatin was determined in sweet potato tubers by means of solvent extraction, ionexchange chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography, Amaranthus betacyanin bioassay, and mass spectrometry. The level was estimated to be 1.32^g/kg fresh weight of the tuber. In previous papers, we have reported the presence and level of cis-RZ1] and IPG2) in sweet potato tubers. We have now found the presence of trans-RZ by means of GC-MS, HPLC, and the Amaranthus betacyanin bioassay froman… Show more

“…Plant hormones are often involved in regulation of plant development. Many reports have suggested involvement of cytokinins in regulation of storage root formation in sweetpotato (Matsuo et al, 1983(Matsuo et al, , 1988McDavid and Alamu, 1980;Nakatani, 1994;Nakatani and Komeichi, 1991;Nakatani and Matsuda, 1992;Spence and Humphries, 1972;Sugiyama and Hashizume, 1989;Suye et al, 1983). Endogenous ZR, the major cytokinin in sweetpotato (Matsuo et al, 1983;Sugiyama and Hashizume, 1989;Suye et al, 1983), was assayed in the present study.…”
