The existing Call Minder infrastructure, has been delivering mass-market requirements for voice messaging services since 1994 and has a roadmap of upgrades delivering a number of value added convergence services, including mobile to fixed SMS text messaging, voice message download to PC and call completion to a VoIP client (BT Communicator) where the destination is engaged on a narrowband ISP connection. BT's messaging portfolio has additionally included e-mail, mobile SMS aggregation, unified messaging and instant messaging. This paper lays out the scope of messaging within BT, details the existing services and provides an overview of the migration impact/activities required for delivery of these and new messaging services over an IP bearer. It will focus on services currently supported by the Call Minder infrastructure.
