Marxist Influences in Psychology

Abstract: Marxist ideas influenced and inspired psychological thinking and practice in the 20th century in a range of ways. In different parts of the world, unique versions of Marxist psychology emerged as answers to questions and problems raised by specific historical contexts. “…The representation of the human psyche would be trapped in a specific theoretical framework that could not easily be refuted. However, the problem of “measuring” the exact level of ideological interference/control, especially when we try to understand the impact in the field of psychology or psychiatry, is complex (Eghigian, 2002; Laine‐Frigren, 2020).
