Markov Chain Monte Carlo Analysis of the Variable-Volume Exothermic Model for a Continuously Stirred Tank Reactor

Abstract: In this paper, a variable-volume Continuously Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) deterministic exothermic model has been formulated based on the Reynold Transport Theorem. The numerical analysis of the formulated model and the identifiability of its physical parameters are done by using the least squares and the Delayed-Rejection Adaptive Metropolis (DRAM) method. The least square estimates provide the prior information for the DRAM method. The overall numerical results show that the model gives an insight in describ… Show more

“…The initial values for the parameters are obtained from least squares estimates and the model parameters identifiability is mostly determined by the MCMC convergence. For the MCMC method, there are numerous graphical and statistical convergence tests [43] , [44] , [45] . The sum of squares was given by Eq.…”

“…Moreover, the use of fossil fuels in the generation of electricity contributes significantly to Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, which contribute to climate change [2,3]. According to [4], utilizing renewable energy as an alternative energy source will reduce environmental problems, essentially GHG emissions and air pollution. Storage of energy is an important factor in wind turbine use.…”
