La qualité de vie des patients avec laryngectomie totale Introduction. La qualité de vie des patients après une laryngectomie totale est influencée à la fois par la maladie et par les interventions thérapeutiques radicales. Après un traitement chirurgical, une rééducation vocale, ainsi qu'une rééducation pulmonaire et de déglutition, sont nécessaires. L'objectif de l'étude était d'évaluer la qualité de vie des patients atteints de laryngectomie totale. Matériaux et méthodes. Un questionnaire de 14 questions a été adressé au hasard à 100 patients atteints de laryngectomie totale qui se sont présentés à l'hôpital clinique Coltea, Bucarest, Roumanie, sur une période de trois mois. Résultats. Cinquante patients ont répondu qu'ils n'avaient aucune douleur. Concernant les activités quotidiennes, 34 patients ont répondu qu'ils étaient aussi actifs qu'avant la chirurgie. Lung cancer is the first cause of death worldwide of oncological patients. Most of them are non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and many of them are characterized by different molecular markers that allow the development of personalized treatments. Epithelial growth factor receptor (EGFR) and anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) are the most frequently tested genes in lung adenocarcinoma and other lung carcinomas with glandular component. The aim of our study is to evaluate the distribution of ALK gene mutation in lung cancer patient from North West part of Romania. We analysed a number of 289 lung biopsies along 18 months. The samples have been incubated with monoclonal ALK antibodies (clone D5F3), according to the manufacturer�s instruction. The interpretation guide provided by manufacturer was used to distinguish the positives vs negative cases. In our study from a total number of 289 lung biopsies, 196 cases were carcinomas. 57.65 % from the total number of lung cancers were adenocarcinomas. A total number of 79 cases have been analysed for ALK gene supra expression. 5.08 % of adenocarcinomas were positive for ALK, but the mean age for this population is higher comparing with the data from other studies.

Retroperitoneal tumors, once considered uncommon, have been reported in the last years in such numbers that they cannot be considered anymore a rare condition. Tumor recurrence following surgical excision is quite common and a tumor that was considered originally as benign in many cases can recur as a malignant tumor. The purpose of this paper is to underline the difficulties in terms of establishing a correct diagnosis and a proper therapeutic protocol when facing a retroperitoneal mass of unknown origin, as well as to present the available data regarding prognosis, treatment options and tumor recurrence. Retroperitoneal tumors can be classified as benign or malignant; solid, cystic or both; single or multiple, and of varied histological types. A high percentage of patients with retroperitoneal tumors are discovered in advanced stages, usually seeking medical help for symptoms related to nearby organ compression/invasion. This pathology requires a prompt and adequate multidisciplinary management, in order to achieve disease control and to reduce the recurrence rate. Complete surgical resection is the potential curative treatment for retroperitoneal tumors and it is best managed in high-volume centers, by a multidisciplinary team. Complete oncological tumor resection and tumor grade remain the most important predictors for local recurrence and disease-specific survival. Further research is required in order to define the role of radiotherapy, as well as to discover new biological therapies that target various molecular pathways involved in retroperitoneal cancers.
