“…turfacea is a widespread species, which occurs in fresh water in North America (Nicholls, 1983; Wujek, 2005, 2006, 2015), South America and Chile (Dürrschmidt, 1985), Europe (Siemensma, 1981; Zlatogursky, 2014a, Zlatogursky, 2014b), Africa (Wujek et al, 2007), India (Wujek & Saha, 2006), Australia (Croome, 1986), and European Russia (Ermolenko & Plotnikov, 2013; Leonov & Mylnikov, 2012; Leonov & Plotnikov, 2009; Mikrjukov, 1993b, 1999; Plotnikov and Ermolenko 201; Prokina & Philippov, 2019; Prokina et al, 2018); it has been found in marine environments (~35‰) of Antarctica (Croome et al, 1987), Asia, and Vietnam (Prokina et al, 2019a). In European Russia, it has been found in the Baltic Sea (5–6‰; Vørs, 1992), the Black Sea (16–18‰; Prokina et al, 2019b), the White Sea (24‰; Leonov, 2010; Leonov & Mylnikov, 2012), and in saline (30–42.2‰) inland waters of European Russia (Plotnikov & Gerasimova, 2017).…”
