Mapping the relationship between the structural deformation of a simply supported beam bridge and rail deformation in high-speed railways

Abstract: By considering the effect of the constraints of the rails on the subgrade section on both sides of a bridge, analytical expressions are derived to study the mapping relationship between the rail deformation and changes in the condition of the supporting beam(s), based on the principle of minimum potential energy. Rail deformations in a slab track–bridge system induced by the subsidence of piers and beam faults are investigated in detail. Results are compared with the finite element calculations to assess the m… Show more

“…4 Many studies have focused on the track deformation and stress regarding the effects of settlement on bridges. [5][6][7] Jiang et al 8,9 respectively investigated the mapping relationship between the deformations of a continuous bridge and a simply supported bridge and track geometry with analytical method. Gou et al 10 quantitatively evaluated track formation due to interlayer degradation and bridge deformations by using an analytical method.…”

“…The model test for the above problem would consume more time and money. A higher efficient method for solving prementioned problem is necessary, and some related works have been performed (Guo et al, 2018b; Jiang et al, 2020). Guo et al (2018a) established a mapping relationship model for the vertical deformation interaction of subgrade and track, which considered the contact condition of track slab and subgrade based on Winkler elastic foundation laminated beam theory.…”

“…These analysis results indicated the weakened energy dissipation capacity because of the fluctuating vertical load. Many more studies also pointed that the fluctuated axial load even separation of the rubber bearing of friction pendulum system could significant affect the seismic performance of the bridges (Wei et al 2014;Jiang et al 2020;Khoshnudian and Motamedi 2013).…”
