The rapid development of urban areas is one of the driving factors for hazard exposure which causes vulnerability and environmental degradation. Environmental degradation causes vulnerability to disasters which will have implications for a decrease in economic benefits and an increase in community poverty. Landslides and floods are frequent natural disasters that cause environmental degradation. To reduce the risk of landslides and floods and formulate development policies and strategies in disaster-prone areas is necessary to identify landslides and flood areas. This study aims to identify and detect areas prone to landslides and floods in Metropolitan Palapa using GIS analysis and Moran's Local Index based on LISA statistics. The analysis results show that the northern to northeastern areas of Metropolitan Palapa (Pariaman regency and Pariaman municipal) are areas with high vulnerability to landslides, with high positive spatial associations of landslide occurrence and intensity. The area has an altitude between 350 to >1100 above sea level and a slope between 15 to >45%. Meanwhile, Padang and Pariaman municipal are areas that are vulnerable to flood hazards, and this is because these areas are lowlands/coastal areas. We can implement strategies and policies for the Palapa Metropolitan area, including a) limiting development in the northern region, b) applying engineering to areas prone to landslides by applying cut and fill techniques, c) improvement of drainage systems in areas prone to flooding; d) increase public awareness to care and provide incentives to people who care about the environment. Appropriate strategies and policies will reduce environmental degradation. We required disaster-based development planning to reduce environmental degradation, but the data is often an obstacle.

In the last decade, the Jakarta-Bandung Mega Urban (JBMUR) corridor has experienced rapid urbanization, including the Karawang Regency. In addition, Karawang has become a national center (rice barn), with an area of rice fields in 2019 reaching 95,000 ha and covering 54% of its regency. The socio-economic spatial context of this region provides a new notion of peri-urban characteristics in the rice production center area. This study aims to identify the peri-urban areas and explain the peri-urban rice production center areas. The approach is a case study using geographic information system analysis (intersect, clip, feature to point) and data tabulation. The data are land cover time series maps from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in 2019, village government maps (population and civil records 2019), and village potential data for 2011 and 2018. The analysis results show that the number of villages in the urban area is 49 villages, peri-urban 30 villages, and rural area 223 villages. Various variables were compared, showing urban area, peri-urban and rural area. Information on the characteristics of agricultural (rice field) centers can provide input for local governments in planning policy making.

Government administration becomes a key success in developing the local potential sector. Mapping local potential, in this case, sub-districts is one of the important things to do to find and recognize economic potential that can be developed. Ideally, community economic activities at the sub-district level are carried out as institutions or business entities managed professionally but still rely on the area's potential. It can make community businesses more productive and effective. Thus, this study seeks to determine the potential for forming sub-district-based business entities as one of the economic drivers of the city of Samarinda. This study uses a qualitative approach to primary and secondary data. Also, the research location is 59 sub-districts in the city of Samarinda. A total of 59 village heads who were the target of this study, 55 people were willing to answer the questions. The data was analyzed using tabulating interviews through 9 blocks covering the Business Model Canvas components: Customer Segment, Value Proposition, Channel, Customer Relation, Revenue Stream, Key Resources, Key Activities, Key Partnerships, and Cost Structure. Also, Business Model Canvas and SWOT analysis. The result indicates that 10 sub-district-based business models have the most potential to be developed in Samarinda City, namely trading businesses (groceries, restaurants), home industry businesses (weaving, beads, amplang, fish floss, herbal medicine), service businesses (workshops, transportation services, Savings and Loans, motorbike washing, haircuts, sewing), Use of land that is not (RTH), Service-based environmental management system (such as environmental safety and environmental cleanliness), Become a wholesaler, for goods/needs that are for public consumption. Homestead agricultural food sector business (mushroom business, etc.), freshwater fish management, waste recycling, and tourism.
