Mapping Soil Quality in Various Land Uses as a Basis for Soil Management in Wonogiri, Indonesia

Abstract: Soil quality is closely related to environment because soil is not only viewed as a growing media for plants but also encompasses various environmental and health functions. It is important to know the quality of soil in order to keep it healthy, productive, and optimally functioning. This research aims to evaluate soil quality status in various land uses and to learn the land factors that are related to soil quality. Soil quality index (SQI) represents the soil quality status. SQI will then be used as the bas… Show more

“…Cation exchange capacity is related to the ability of the soil to provide nutrients for plants. Soil with high cation exchange capacity has the potential to provide sufficient nutrients for plants [23]. Meanwhile, the increase in P and K availability was due to the application of rice husks and organic fertilizer.…”

“…However, land capability IV is classified as suitable for use as agricultural production land. Recommendations for land management related to this discrepancy are to choose land uses that are in accordance with the capacity of the land (Mujiyo et al 2020). So that later with the potential of the land in LU 6 for agricultural production, it needs to be utilized optimally.…”

“…The soil fertility index is calculated based on the value and quality of each indicator of soil fertility. Soil fertility indicators are chosen from the characteristics that indicate the capacity of soil function (Mujiyo et al, 2020). Intensive management systems lead to a reduction in soil fertility.…”
