Krasno polje is one of the less typical karst poljes within the Dinaric Mountains. It is situated within Velebit Mountain. Our research utilized morphographic, morphostructural and morphometric analysis of the polje to present its morphogenetic characteristics. It is completely filled with gravel and lacking any surface flows. Slopes above the polje were severely altered by glacial action during the colder periods of the Pleistocene. As a result, proglacial fans filled the karst depression, creating a piedmont type polje. Glacial evidence suggests that there were at least two separate phases of intense proglacial deposition within the polje.Key words: Dinaric Mountains, the Velebit Mountain, polje, glaciation, Croatia Krasno polje tipično je krško polje u Dinarskom gorju. Smješteno je na planini Velebit. U istraživanju smo primijenili morfografske, morfostrukturne i morfometrijske analize polja kako bismo prikazali njegove morfogenetske karakteristike. Polje je u potpunosti ispunjeno šljunkom, a površinskih tokova nema. Padine iznad polja uvelike su izmijenjene glacijalnim procesima tijekom hladnijeg razdoblja pleistocena, zbog čega je proglacijalna lepeza ispunila kršku depresiju i stvorila pijedmontski tip polja. Glacijalni dokazi sugeriraju postojanje dviju odvojenih faza intenzivne proglacijalne akumulacije polja.

IzvlečekSlepa dolina Brdanska dana se nahaja na južnem robu Brkinov, kjer se ti stikajo s kraškim ravnikom Matarskega podolja. Na preučevanem območju se prepletajo značilnosti fluvi alnega ter kraškega geomorfnega sistema, kar se kaže v veliki pestrosti reliefnih oblik in procesov. V okviru te raziskave je bila opravljena geomorfološka analiza preučevanega območja. Na podlagi morfografskih, morfometričnih in granulometričnih podatkov smo preučili glavne geomorfološke značilnosti, funkcijo in razvoj te slepe doline.Ključne besede: kontaktni kras, slepa dolina, udornica, ponikalnica, geomorfologija, Brdanska dana, Brkini, Matarsko podolje, Slovenija MORPHOGENESIS OF THE BRDANSKA DANA BLIND VALLEY AbstractBrdanska dana blind valley is situated in the southwestern part of Slovenia where the flysch area of Brkini meets the limestone area of Matarsko podolje. The research area has features of fluvial and karstic geomorphic system, which is shown by a huge variety of geomorphological forms and processes. The morphogenetic interpretation of the geo morphological features, function and the evolution of the blind valley is discussed on the basis of data obtained through detailed geomorphological analysis.

The distribution of hazards triggered by strong earthquakes showed great differences with traditional experience that gained from normal condition or moderate earthquake. This paper researches the differences and discusses the effect on road in V-shaped valleys. The distribution map of slope failures triggered by Lushan earthquake along roads is worked out by detailed investigation. Abnormal areas of seismic hazards are found and marked in the map. Then, co-seismic hazards and post-seismic hazards are researched in detail along Yingxiu-Wolong section of S303 road. V-shaped valleys are abnormal areas in strong earthquakes, where the geological hazards can be extreme large. Rock avalanche is the major type of co-seismic hazard, and debris flow is prone to occur and is the most harmful post-seismic hazard. For new built roads, the line elevation is as high as it can be if the economy and technique are acceptable. In strong earthquake-stricken area, makeshift roads are adopted in damage trunk roads to ensure the traffic. Reconstruction of formal roads should not be started until the end of the active period. The line elevation with enough vertical clearance over the river should be adopted to prevent the post-seismic debris flow hazard.
