Maori land utilisation

Abstract: The Maori land resource in the Bay of Plenty district is variously defined as to area and undefined as to land use. A general resumé of Maoti land title and tenure is given and procedures on succession commented on. Two statutory avenues which may assist utilisation, the establishment of trusts under section 438 of the Maori Affairs Act, and the establishment of Maori Incorporations, are discussed.
