Manufacturing and characterization of polyether ether ketone/methyl phenyl polysiloxane composite coatings

Abstract: In this work, manufacturing and characterization of single-and multilayer polyether ether ketone (PEEK)-reinforced coatings were investigated. Hybrid composites of thermoplastic reinforcing agents in a thermoset resin was, therefore, achieved by dispersing large PEEK particles (85 lm diameter) in methyl phenyl polysiloxane (MPP). First, mechanism of formation of the polymeric networks during MPP curing at different temperatures (250-400 8C) was analyzed. The different arrangements of the PEEK powders inside th… Show more

“…Water absorption time for the samples PAA/PAH and, above all, 1DF was decidedly longer in agreement with previous considerations. This result might be, however, ascribed to the uniform addition of fluoroalkyl‐functional waterborne oligo‐siloxanes in sample 1DF, which form SiOC bonds 23 . SiOC bonds limit water absorption on the paper sheet because of hydrophobicity and enhanced cross‐linking promoted by the fluorinate groups on the siloxane backbone.…”

Polyelectrolyte multilayers also feature high-interfiber adhesion and cross-linking as testified by the very high advancing contact angle with the water droplet.…”

“…Other researchers also found that the addition of graphene nano-platelets or nanoparticles could increase the pencil hardness of the materials. 44,45 The adhesion strength of the EA/GO coatings to the steel surface was examined by following ASTM standard D3359-02. Good adhesion between the coating and steel plate is essential if the coating is to give excellent protection efficiency.…”

“…Currently, there have been various methods applied to modify PLA. [14][15][16] The incorporation of hydroxyapatite (HA) nanoparticles is one of the effective ways. As is well known, HA, as the main inorganic component of the human bone, is an important inorganic material with excellent bioactivity, biocompatibility, and osteoconductivity.…”
