Manufacture of parts from ductile iron

Abstract: Efforts are being made by a number of plants to use ductile iron (high-strength cast iron) for the manufacture of pipe fittings. This type oi iron has mechanical properties superior to malleable iron and close to cast carbon steel.Ductile iron should be used whenever specific structural and mechanical properties are required, e. g., cast fittings with diameters greater than 50 ram.
