Manifestations and pathological features of solitary thin-walled cavity lung cancer observed by CT and PET/CT imaging

Abstract: The aim of the present study was to analyze and improve the understanding of computed tomography (CT) and positron emission tomography (PET)/CT imaging and the pathological features of solitary thin-walled cavity lung cancer. A total of 16 patients with pathologically confirmed solitary thin-walled cavity lung cancer were included in the present study. All of the patients received CT scans. Among these, two patients underwent an additional PET/CT examination. The CT and PET/CT images were analyzed and a cross-… Show more

“…A correct radiological diagnosis of a lung cancer presenting as a thin-walled cavity is still a big challenge. Malignant nature of such lesion may be considered in case of: irregular shape of the cyst, wall nodule formation, central solid tissue or septation [8]. Such cavities are often surrounded by ground-glass opacities confirmed by pathologist as neoplastic dissemination.…”

“…These small molecular agents demonstrate high specificity and affinity with PSMA (22). The use of 18 F-Glu-Urea-Lys provides a new strategy in diagnosis, preoperative or tumor recurrence staging, and also could be extended from molecular imaging to the gene target therapy area.…”

“…At present, lobectomy is considered to be the best method for treatment of CCAM [9] . Lung cancer presenting as thin-walled cyst or cavity has been described in various case reports [10][11][12][13][14] . It usually presents as peripheral lung lesion, most of them were adenocarcinomas.…”
