Mangrove Creeks Are a Sink for Isoprene—A Functional Link Between Ecosystems

Abstract: Isoprene concentrations were higher at high tide and lower at low tide, showing that isoprene is imported into the creeks on the flood tide • Jacob's Creek in Moreton Bay was found to be a net sink for isoprene (−9.53 ± 9.10 nmol m −2 h −1 ) • Isoprene is produced in the open water and then consumed by bacterial communities as a carbon source within the mangrove creeks
