Abstract:Background: Type II diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder that causes blood sugar to rise because the beta cells in the pancreas make less insulin and the insulin does not work properly (insulin resistance) or better known as diabetes. Data from the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) in 2015 shows that 415 million people worldwide suffer from DM and it is estimated that this will increase to around 642 million people in 2040.
