Abstract: The aim of this work is to study the management and success rate of traumatic dacryocystitis and failed dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) using Silicone lacrimal intubation set. A prospective study was conducted at a tertiary eye care hospital, India from February 2006 to January 2008. “…Soft tissue edema, scarring, or bony displacement can result in diagnostic pitfalls and may affect surgical prognosis (1). Patients with permanent epiphora or recurrent dacryocystitis after maxillofacial trauma should be evaluated for traumatic NLDO (2). Proper fixation of all fractures and immediate posttraumatic canalicular repair decreases the incidence of postoperative epiphora (3).…”

“…Reassessment of the NLDO should be performed 1 to 3 months after initial trauma when resolution of edema and soft tissue injuries permits definitive evaluation (5). Careful assessment, including the level of obstruction, is critical for medical decision-making and outcome (2). In this study, we evaluate the demographics, etiologies, surgical treatments, and outcome of posttraumatic NLDO.…”
