Management of School Finances in South African Schools

Abstract

This chapter examine (scrutinize) the research study which was carried out in Sekhukhune East District of Limpopo Province focusing particularly on the Department of Education's Malokela circuit. This research study has its main intention or scope of exploring on how school governing bodies (SGBs) members are working together (collaboratively) in the governance of school finances and the implementation of finance policy in public primary schools of Limpopo Province. The following research question was used to inquire (scrutinize) the problem: How collaboratively do school governing bodies (SGBs) are governing the financial affairs of public primary schools in Malokela Circuit of Limpopo Province? It is in the interest of schools and their learners that school governing bodies (SGBs) members are working together to ensure that school finances are managed effectively, and also the school finance policies are implemented properly.
