Management of operation and maintenance practices in photovoltaic plants: Key performance indicators

Abstract: Summary The number of large photovoltaic (PV) power plants is increasing around the world. Energy sale usually follows demand contracts with clearly defined obligations, subject to nonsupply penalties. Not supplying the amount of contracted energy is a critical issue to PV plant performance, which can be mitigated with operation and maintenance (O&M) good practices. Furthermore, as the PV plant ages, O&M practices become increasingly important to improve or maintain a good performance. Performance assessment i… Show more

“…Comprehensively sort out business data, realize the unified management of metadata and master data, build the data model and index system, and ensure the consistency and accuracy of data. As an information management and processing technology based on computer technology, cloud computing technology can provide computing, storage, data, and processing resources for those who need it by using a group of servers in the Internet, which is a technical way to facilitate system information management (Rediske et al, 2022). For key business, the traditional processing method of airport systems is to back up business data information or even to increase the cost of off-site backup in order to increase security (Fan et al, 2019).…”

“…The economic assessments for the aforementioned research use different economic indicators, such as the cost of energy (COE) [29], the net present value (NPV) [30], the internal rate of return (IRR) [31], the annualized cost of the system (ACS) [32], the payback period [33], the annualized capital cost (ACC) [34], the annualized maintenance cost (AMC) [35], the capital expenditure (CAPEX) [36], the operational expenditure (OPEX) [37], and the operation and maintenance (O&M) [38], among others. To estimate these values, the proposed formulations consider annualized variables, such as the energy generated by the resources in one year or the energy dispatched by the battery during the year.…”
