Adult orthodontic patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion, open bite and bimaxillary dentoalveolar protrusion are complex problems that normally require surgical intervention to correct. This is a report of an adult female with a skeletal Class III jaw relationship; in addition, the patient had anterior open bite and bimaxillary dentoalveolar protrusion. The patient also had three premolars in the lower left quadrant. Treatment involved extracting the extra premolar distal to lower left canine, retraction of lower anterior teeth, closing extraction space and anterior open bite utilizing Invisalign clear aligners. The patient initially changed aligners every week before this was changed to 3–5 days after starting to use a high frequency vibration (HFV = 120 Hz) device. Satisfactory results were achieved in a relatively shorter period. Comparing before and after treatment cone beam computed tomography revealed that new bone has been formed labial to the lower incisors after their retraction/correction of their initial proclined position and the use of HFV and myofunctional therapy without gingival graft. The present case report shows the comprehensive multidisciplinary team approach in treatment for such cases and the advantage of using HFV to improve bone formation.

Background. Dental hypersensitivity is due to the exposure of the dentin layer after wear of enamel or cementum, exposing the dentinal tubules and the nerve endings of odontoblasts within these tubules. The present study aimed to assess the factors related to dental hypersensitivity in individuals with cleft lip and palate and the most common therapy received. Methods. The medical records of 536 patients with cleft lip and/or palate (281 males, 255 females) with a mean age of 18 were analyzed in a single center. The inclusion criterion was patients reporting dental hypersensitivity from May 2015 to October 2019. The origin of dental hypersensitivity was evaluated considering orthodontic movement, periodontal diseases, and reversible and irreversible pulpitis. The therapy indicated by the dental professionals for dental hypersensitivity were recorded. Descriptive statistics were performed. Results. Of 61 teeth with dental hypersensitivity, 10 were attributed to orthodontic movement, 21 to periodontal problems, 27 to reversible pulpitis, and three to irreversible pulpitis. The most used therapies were the application of fluoride varnish and prophylaxis, dentifrice indication for dental sensitivity, free gingival grafts, pulpectomy, desensitizing agent application, conservative endodontic treatment (direct pulp protection), and restoration of non-carious cervical lesions. Conclusion. Reversible pulpitis was the most prevalent etiologic factor of dental hypersensitivity in individuals with cleft lip and palate. Dentifrices for dental sensitivity and fluoride varnish application were frequently recommended.

Цель -изучить морфофункциональную реорганизацию тканей слизистой оболочки полости рта в ходе регенерации раневого дефекта при использовании полимерных мембран на основе сополимера винилиденфторида с тетрафторэтиленом и без него.Материал и методы. Эксперимент проведен на 35 белых крысах линии Wistar массой 220-280 г. Животных разделили на три группы: 1-я группа -интактные особи, 2-я -экспериментальная группа сравнения и 3-я -основная экспериментальная группа. При иссечении лоскута слизистой оболочки у крыс формировали раневой дефект, который у крыс 3-й группы покрывали полимерной мембраной. Гистологическое и макроскопическое исследования проводили на 3-и, 7-е и 12-е сут.Результаты. В 3-й группе развитие грануляционной и рыхлой волокнистой соединительной ткани происходило быстрее, что было отмечено уже на 3-и сут исследования. На 7-е сут в основной экспериментальной группе отмечалось уменьшение воспалительного инфильтрата в 1.5 раза, в то время как в экспериментальной группе сравнения этот показатель уменьшился всего в 1.35 раза. При этом, образование рыхлой волокнистой соединительной ткани в основной экспериментальной группе происходило в 3.2 раза интенсивнее, чем в группе сравнения. На 12-е сут удельная площадь рыхлой волокнистой соединительной ткани в экспериментальной основной группе была в 1.4 раза больше, а удельная площадь рубцовой ткани -в 3 раза меньше, чем в экспериментальной группе сравнения.Выводы. При использовании полимерной мембраны по сравнению с открытым ведением раны наблюдалось уменьшение воспалительного инфильтрата, ускоренное созревание рыхлой волокнистой соединительной ткани, при этом образование плотной волокнистой соединительной ткани происходило значимо меньше. Таким образом, применение полимерной пьезоэлектрической мембраны может быть эффективным при ведении раневых дефектов слизистой оболочки полости рта.Ключевые слова: слизистая оболочка полости рта, раневой дефект, сополимер винилиденфторида с тетрафторэтиленом, раневое покрытие.
