“…In keeping with Sackett et al's 2 definition of EBM (i.e., integrating the best external evidence with individual clinical expertise and patients' choice), we must also continue to recognize the importance of nonclinical trials evidence sources such as the opinions of respected clinicians, 33 textbooks, 34 and clinical evidence derived from one's own clinical practice. 35 While the EBASE survey instrument was simple and inexpensive to administer and was validated for its use to examine social, situational and behavioral factors in the uptake and utilization of EBP, we must acknowledge the limitations of bias (i.e., recall bias, social desirability bias, and errors in observation), over-estimation, and inaccuracies germane to self-reports as made by our responders and those of other studies discussed. Chiropractic education has incorporated EBP training only in the past 15 years or so, and there remains a wide variability of competence in its application in practice.…”
