“…Ductal carcinoma in situ was diagnosed by mammography in 87.6% of our patients, but only in 61.2% of patients under the age of 40 years. This 87.6% rate of mammographically detected DCIS is slightly higher than the mean 81.5% rate of infraclinical lesions found in a former review of 909 patients treated for DCIS in Bordeaux) (Barreau et al, 2005). French (Cutuli et al, 2005a, b) and European (Rutgers, 2001) guidelines also recommend preoperative diagnosis.…”

“…In clinical practice, AD in the setting of DCIS is thought to be attributable to a mixture of sclerosing adenosis, sclerosis in the interstitium around the DCIS, and DCIS involving Cooper's ligaments. Prior publications have shown that DCIS with an area of AD occurs in about 7%-13% of the cases (40,41). In our study, the case of DCIS showed focal enhancement and DWI was negative, even though focal enhancement is usually the least common finding, being seen in only 1%-12% of cases (42,43).…”

“…However, BI- (3). Their analysis revealed pooled sensitivity and specificity values of 87% and 81% for all lesions, 57% and 32% for BI-RADS 3 lesions, 92% and 82% for BI-RADS 4 lesions, and 95% and 66% for BI-RADS 5 lesions.…”
