Malonal Generation Conditions of the Tobacco Smoke

Abstract: The possibility of malonic dia1dehyde.formation in the tobacco smoke was investigated and the conditions of the degree of malonal generation by smoke compounds were stated. The malonal concentration in smoke of cigarettes with filters is in the mean lower (28.7 mg/kg) than in smoke of cigarettes without filters (35.0 mg/ kg). The highest contents of malonal were received in "Zefir" (41.7 mgjkg), "Radomskie" (35.2 mg/kg) cigarettes with filters and "Sport" without filters (42.6 mg/kg) and by a half lower in "Gi… Show more

“…From comparison of MDA contents in smoke of cigarettes dealt with in this work to that occurring in smoke of cigarettes manufactured in Poland [26] and in the GDR [28] it results, that mean values for particular groups of cigarettes are much alike, but effectiveness of filtering is very differentiated in relation to the total contents of MDA and to the contents of this aldehyde in free or bounded form. Quality of filters in cigarettes having home reach [26,28] is absolutely unsatisfactory as compared to the effectiveness of such of high quality (of worldwide reach) cigarettes filters. Such cigarettes in spite of exhaling considerable amounts of MDA and of being considerably differentiated in particular brands, are provided with filters of high effectiveness.…”
