“…Using ethnographic methods has given me access to participants' stories, expressed in their own words; versions of reality from their various perspectives (Brockington & Sullivan, 2011;Cameron, 2012;Hennink et al, 2011). Accessing these perspectives has allowed me to analyse how Manu is constructed and contested through the discourses mobilised by practitioners operating at multiple scales (Favaro et al, 2017;Prior, 2011;Rapley, 2011), and to explore participants' everyday experiences of the social and cultural processes that shape this place from their standpoint (Brockington & Sullivan, 2011;Crang & Cook, 2011;Hennink et al, 2011).
