Abstract:The nonlinear optical properties of thin ( -1 mm) lithium niobate integrated optical substrates can be obtained from the interference between the free and bound second harmonic waves (Maker fringes). The harmonic power is affected by the homogeneity of the plate, and this provides us with a method of quality control. We use a Q switched YAG laser to generate the harmonic power and the equipment is computer controlled. Fringe patterns that deviate appreciably from those expected for hon:oceneous plates indicate… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
