makeSense: Simplifying the Integration of Wireless Sensor Networks into Business Processes

Abstract: Abstract-A wide gap exists between the state of the art in developing Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) software and current practices concerning the design, execution, and maintenance of business processes. WSN software is most often developed based on low-level OS abstractions, whereas business process development leverages high-level languages and tools. This state of affairs places WSNs at the fringe of industry. The makeSense system addresses this problem by simplifying the integration of WSNs into business p… Show more

“…And IIoT systems are also built based on integration of information technology and business process. For example, Mottola et al conducted research on simplifying the integration of wireless sensor networks into business processes [165]. And Culot et al [166] explored the the integration and scale in the context of industry 4.0.…”

“…This was done by planning the solution based on virtual heads and the collected information. The researcher of [24] proposed a data transmission protocol in save situation using fault tolerance method. This protocol used the residual information regarding the links of WSN to build a plan for tolerant the faults.…”

“…It contributes an extensive analysis and classification of existing low-power wireless communication protocols employing synchronous transmissions. The semantics we associate to this term defines the scope of our work: In low-power wireless networks, a communication protocol is regarded as providing applications with functionality for data collection, data dissemination, or peer-to-peer interactions [29,45,54,64,72,83,86,87]. Therefore, a communication protocol enables the exchange of user-defined data among physical devices, therefore offering an even minimal programming interface that allows applications to access its functionality.…”
