Maintenance behaviour-based prediction system using data mining

Abstract: -In the last years we have assisted to several and deep changes in industrial manufacturing. Induced by the need of increasing efficiency, bigger flexibility, better quality and lower costs, it became more complex. The complexity of this new scenario has caused big pressure under enterprises production systems and consequently in its maintenance systems. Manufacturing systems recognize high level costs due equipment breakdown, motivated by the time spent to repair, which corresponds to no production time and s… Show more

“…The reasons for this are many and varied McCollin et al, 20 but the database code NFF is still used in the database not allowing any scope for identifying what the true fault may be. Data mining techniques are coming more to the forefront of research: Liang 21 , Bastos et al, 22 Arora and Kaur 23 ; but further research should be considered in the context of having more complete and reliable data, especially on failure modes.…”

“…Predictive maintenance, as the name suggests, uses some parameters which are measured while the equipment is in operation to guess when failures might happen. It intends to interfere with the system before faults occur [1,2] and help reduce the number of unexpected failures by providing the maintenance personnel with more reliable scheduling options for preventive maintenance. Assessing system reliability is important to choose the right maintenance strategy.…”
