Main problems in the operation of metal gas discharge pipes

Abstract

This paper delves into the scientific and technical examination of the load-bearing structures within the "Kazak Eli" complex in Astana, specifically addressing the issue of excessive vertical oscillations in relation to its primary horizontal displacements. The collaborative efforts of KazMIRR Institute (Research, Expert and Design and Survey Kazakhstan Multidisciplinary Institute of Reconstruction and Development), in conjunction with the Central Research and Design Institute of Building Metal Structures named after Melnikov, and with the participation of the TsAGI Institute (Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute) named after Professor N. E. Zhukovsky, focused on developing experimental measurements of amplitude-frequency characteristics, including the main tone of natural oscillations. The dynamic experiment, spanning from 2013 to 2020 and involving continuous monitoring of the stele's load-bearing structures, revealed that the metal structures of the monument did not accumulate fatigue damage despite dynamic alternating cyclic impacts. This finding suggested a stable stress-strain state within the load-bearing structures over time. The study produced recommendations in the form of technical solutions to eliminate defects and damages. These solutions aimed to ensure the reliable and safe long-term operation of the structure, accounting for real ground conditions and the parameters of all-season wind impact, including wind pulsations.
