Magnetoresistive polyaniline–silicon carbide metacomposites: plasma frequency determination and high magnetic field sensitivity

Abstract: The Drude model modified by Debye relaxation time was introduced to determine the plasma frequency (ωp) in the surface initiated polymerization (SIP) synthesized β-silicon carbide (β-SiC)/polyaniline (PANI) metacomposites. The calculated plasma frequency for these metacomposites with different loadings of β-SiC nanoparticles was ranging from 6.11 × 10(4) to 1.53 × 10(5) rad s(-1). The relationship between the negative permittivity and plasma frequency indicates the existence of switching frequency, at which th… Show more

[5][6][7][8] In recent years, intrinsic metamaterials with tunable negative permittivity begin to gain extensive research attention due to the potential application, such as plasmons biosensing [9], microwave funneling [10], and electromagnetic shield [11], sensors [12][13][14], negative permittivity materials can also be used in left-handed materials when combined with negative permeability materials, etc. [15][16][17] However, the recent investigations of negative permittivity mainly focus on how to explain and realize negative permittivity.…”

“…After introducing AgNWs to the CFS, the conductive AgNWs contributed to the connectivity of network, leading to the increase of electron concentration. Drude model was used to explore the mechanism of negative permittivity, which can be expressed as follows [31][32][33],…”

“…The small |ɛ′| also benefit their applications in the microwave absorbers and antenna . As the frequency is larger than f p , the composites behave as an ordinary dielectric medium . The ε′ diminishes with increasing frequency due to the intensifying electric leakage.…”
