The phonon-limited part of the electron mean free path IHp, in aluminum has been investigated by the Sondheimer size effect for a magnetic field along the three principal crystallographic orientations in the temperature range 1.8-12 K. It is found that 1Hp decreases with temperature approximately as T -3 and varies from 1.4 • 10 -3 to 1.3 • 10 -2 cm, with the orbits responsible for the oscillations at 20 Ko The results are in agreement with a calculation based on the 4-OPW Fermi surface model and the anisotropic electron-phonon scattering time given by Leung et al.
