Magneto-induced rheological properties of magnetorheological gel under quasi-static shear with large deformation

Abstract: Magnetorheological gel is a material composed of magnetic particles and polyurethane. CIPs content, shear rate, shear strain amplitude and magnetic field affect damping performance. The magento-induced enhancement of energy dissipation density of MRG-60 could reach 104900%.

“…However, the results shown in Figure 11B do not agree with that theory and its corresponding phenomenon. The results displayed in Figure 11B could be explained with the following hypothesis (Liu et al, 2014;Mao et al, 2020). The macroscopic normal stress behavior of MRG is primarily dependent on the evolution of particle chain microstructure.…”

“…The magnetorheological (MR) material is an intelligent material, it generally includes MR fluid (Cheng et al, 2021), MR gel (Mao et al, 2020;Zhang and Wang, 2020), MR elastomer (Yang et al, 2015;Fu et al, 2019) and MR grease (Ye et al, 2021). its rheological properties will change continuously, rapidly and reversibly under the external magnetic field.…”
