“…Animal experiments using the purified peptidoglycan-polysaccharide rat colitis model have demonstrated the feasibility of MT-MRI in measuring the degree of intestinal fibrosis [32][33][34] . Initial data in patients confirm the potential of this imaging modality in revealing significant differences of the MT ratio in gut segments with fibrosis compared to normal or inflamed tissue [35,36] .…”

“…Animal experiments using the purified peptidoglycan-polysaccharide rat colitis model have demonstrated the feasibility of MT-MRI to measure the degree of intestinal fibrosis [40,41]. Initial data in patients confirm the potential of this imaging modality in revealing significant differences of the MT ratio in gut segments with fibrosis compared to normal or inflamed tissue [42,43]. Based on these pilot studies, MT-MRI needs further evaluation in stringent prospective trials correlating the MT ratio with the response to medical therapy or histologic findings of resected strictures.…”

“…It has been shown previously that magnetization transfer (MT) imaging is not only a valuable method to monitor diseases such as multiple sclerosis (19,20) or bowel fibrosis in Crohn disease (21), but it can also be used to T he quality of life of patients with urinary incontinence is markedly compromised (1). A conservative estimate is that urinary incontinence affects approximately 20% of women, but in fact, the prevalence may be as high as 50% in elderly women (2).…”
