Magnetically Tuned Two-Component Microwave Metamaterial

Abstract: Abstract-In this study, the effective magnetic response of magnetic metamaterial is considered in the microwave frequency range. The metamaterial is an infinite isotropic dielectric host medium with periodically embedded ferric cylindrical inclusions. It is assumed that the inclusions are partially magnetized by a dc bias magnetic field. The electromagnetic wave propagation is considered in the direction of bias magnetic field and transverse to bias magnetic field. It is shown that real part of the effective r… Show more

“…The characteristics of metamaterials have a relative constant (permittivity) from the ratio between the electrostatic density of the material by the electric field to the vacuum state [7]. The characteristics of metamaterials also have other relative constants (permeability) from the comparison between the magnetic response of the material by the magnetic field [8]. The permittivity and permeability can be calculated using Equations ( 3) and (4) of the following NRW model [2]:…”

“…This terahertz MTM exhibits tunable characteristics to adjust resonances with the manipulation of switching windows 13 . A magnetically tuned metamaterial is presented in 14 , in which isotopic dielectric ferric cylinders are periodically hosted. These ferric rods are partially magnetized by applying a dc voltage that makes the real part of the magnetic field varying negative to positive values.…”
