Magnetic structure of the double perovskite La2NiIrO6 investigated using neutron diffraction

Abstract: A polycrystalline sample of La 2 NiIrO 6 has been synthesized and characterized using magnetization and neutron powder diffraction to explore the magnetic ground state. Three anomalies are evident in the bulk magnetization measurements at 28, 50, and 74 K, of which only the 74 K transition is associated with long-range ordering of Ni 2+ and Ir 4+ spins.
