Magnetic Properties of URu_{1-x}Pd_{x}Ge Solid Solutions

Abstract: The magnetic properties of the solid solutions URu1−xPdxGe with x = 0.1 0.9, crystallizing in the orthorhombic TiNiSi-type structure, were investigated by ac magnetic susceptibility and dc magnetization measurements. The experimental data reveal that there are three dierent regions of magnetic behaviour. A nonmagnetic ground state occurs for x < 0.3, however, as the Pd concentration is increased, the antiferromagnetism is stabilized for x = 0.35 0.8, and two successive transitions, antiferro-and ferromagnetic,… Show more

“…Sample URu 0.68 Pd 0.32 Ge was prepared and characterized with the same procedure reported previously [3]. Xray diraction analysis indicated the sample to be a single phase with the room temperature lattice parameters * corresponding author; e-mail: V.H.Tran@int.pan.wroc.pl a = 0.619 nm, b = 0.4357 nm and c = 0.7548 nm.…”

“…In order to investigate magnetic phase diagram as well as to search for a quantum critical point we have synthesized and performed measurements of X-ray diraction, dc-magnetization M , ac-susceptibility χ ac (T ), specic heat C p (T ) and electrical resistivity ρ(T ) of solid solutions URu 1−x Pd x Ge [3]. We found that the alloys crystallize in the orthorhombic TiNiSi-type structure (space group P nma).…”
