An experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of CaO and SiOz additives on the magnetic and physical properties of Sr-Zn W-type hexagonal ferrite. The specimens were prepared by the conventional manufacturing method without atmosphere control. It was found that the magnetic properties of SrO * 2Zn0 .8Fez03 are considerably improved on adding 1 wt% CaO and SiOl together. The optimum condition of making magnet with suitable roperties are as fol-Fe~~wCa&Sii.~,0z7; semisintering condition: 1275°C x 1 h in air; sintering condition: 1225°C x 0.5 h in air. The magnetic properties are J, = 0.438 T, J, = 0.402 T, H,J = 92.4 kAIm, H,B = 88.8 kAlm, (BH),,, = 20.3 kJ/m3, T, = 393"C, HA = 968 kAlm, KA = 2.11 x lo5 Jim3, and nB = 3 2 . 8~~. lows: chemical analysis composition: Sr,,w P+ Zn& Fe& Fe:. ;,
