Magnetic moments of substitutional gold in silicon

Abstract: The magnetic susceptibility of silicon samples containing isolated gold impurities on substitutional sites in different charge states has been measured using a sensitive Faraday balance. A paramagnetic moment, which could not be detected by electron paramagnetic resonance measurements, was found for the neutral gold impurity Au 0 .
