“…The theoretical magnetic moment can further be calculated by using the results obtained from the XPS data. The observed effective magnetic moments (μ observed ) are in good agreement with the corresponding effective magnetic moment calculated (μ theoretical ) by considering the various spin moments obtained from the XPS analysis. It was observed that the difference between μ observed and μ theoretical values were found to increase as the value of x increases, which could be attributed to an increased value of the magnetic moment of the Ru 4+ ion, as the value of x increases with the decrease in oxygen vacancy observed from EPR studies . It was observed that due to oxygen defect strain induced hybridization of Ru 4d and O 2p there is a disruption of orbital quenching that results in an increased magnetic moment of Ru 4+ (high spin), especially for lower values of x .…”

“…Unpaired f electrons determine not only the valence characteristics of rare-earth elements and spectroscopic parameters of their compounds, but also magnetic properties. Accordingly, in many REE compounds, paramagnetic and ferromagnetic effects were observed [31][32][33][34][35][36].…”

“…Similar results have been observed in some Ln 3 ReO 7 compounds 14),15) and Re 5+ -containing compounds. 44), 45) In the following, we will evaluate the magnetic specific heat for Y 3 ReO 7 . The magnetic specific heat (C mag ) was estimated by extracting the lattice specific heat (C lat ) from the total specific heat (C p ).…”
