Magnetic hardening of Nd2(CoxFe1−x)14B systems

Abstract: We report the results of a systematic effort to optimize the hard magnetic properties of melt-spun ribbons containing the pseudoternary compound Nd2(CoxFe1−x)14B as the principal constituent. Cobalt concentrations x=0, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, and 1 were examined. For each x the ingot composition was varied so as to maximize the energy product of rapidly solidified ribbons. We find that the optimum composition, especially the boron content, is sensitively dependent on x, a result of technological significance.
