Resumo As pesquisas realizadas nos últimos anos sobre os eventos magmáticos presentes nas bacias sedimentares brasileiras têm mostrado a importância desses episódios para a exploração de hidrocarbonetos. Citam-se os casos da geração (aquecimento), migração (alterações estruturais e petrográficas), acumulação (basaltos fraturados) e barreira (diques e soleiras) dos hidrocarbonetos, produzidos por essas rochas, tanto nas bacias sedimentares marginais como nas intracontinentais. O magmatismo é acompanhado pelo aumento da temperatura da bacia nos arredores de sua intrusão o que produz o aquecimento das rochas geradoras de hidrocarbonetos e, assim, possibilita a maturação da matéria orgânica nela contida. Ao mesmo tempo, tem sido verificado que os contatos diques / rochas sedimentares podem ter propiciado importantes caminhos para a migração dos hidrocarbonetos. Estudos recentes têm mostrado que o magmatismo deve merecer análises mais pormenorizadas até mesmo em suas manifestações extrusivas, tendo em vista as perspectivas de terem atuado como efetivos selantes e, em conseqüência, possibilitando a acumulação de hidrocarbonetos gerados nos sedimentos subjacentes. O magmatismo de caráter predominantemente básico a intermediário tem sua gênese na astenosfera, ou seja, abaixo da litosfera. Assim sendo, mesmo os diques que se introduziram no embasamento das nossas bacias sedimentares merecem cuidadosa atenção, posto que rochas são boas condutoras de calor e, sobre esses diques, podem ser prognosticados maiores gradientes geotérmicos presentes nos depósitos sedimentares sobrepostos. O melhor entendimento dos processos magmáticos presentes nas bacias sedimentares brasileiras deve conduzir a estudos sobre novas formas de exploração de hidrocarbonetos em nossas bacias sedimentares, inclusive naquelas em que as atividades de exploração tradicional não têm surtido os sucessos esperados. Abstract Magmatism in the brazilian sedimentary basins and the petroleum geology.In the recent years, the researches on the magmatic events that occurred in the Brazilian sedimentary basins had shown the importance of these episodes for the hydrocarbons exploration. The generation (heating), migration (structural and petrografic alterations), accumulation (basalt fractures) and migrations barriers (sills and dykes) of the hydrocarbons, produced for these rocks, are cited in the marginal and intracontinental Brazilian basins. The magmatism produce the temperature increase in the sedimentary basin, around its intrusion, and this propitiate the maturation of the organic matter contained in the hydrocarbons generating rocks of the basin. The emplacement of large intrusive complexes into sedimentary basins can have profound effects on host sedimentary rocks including deformation, thermal aureole metamorphic reactions, alteration of fluid-flow pathways, and the formation of associated hydrothermal vent complexes (HVCs). These processes can in turn have major implications for petroleum systems on the local and regional scale, and can contribute to global climate change due to the production and outgassing of greenhouse gases, such as CH 4 and CO 2 . Imaging these features and assessing their implications from seismic data beneath extrusive volcanic cover is challenging due to heterogeneities in the volcanic pile and at the basalt-sediment transition. We have evaluated combined field and laboratory petrophysical data from the Isle of Skye, Scotland, where we identify a seismic-scale example of extensive intrusions interacting with the base-basalt transition. We have also evaluated a unique onshore example of a linked sill and associated HVC cutting up through the lava sequence. We compare these field results with HVCs from reflection seismic data across the Vøring Marginal High, offshore Norway, where subbasalt saucer-shaped intrusions are also seen associated with HVCs cutting the lava sequence. Seismic imaging problems associated with the velocity heterogeneity of volcanic sequences, along with a historical lack of highquality 3D data in volcanic regions worldwide, is suggested as having largely precluded the identification of these features in the past. The under-representation of these hydrothermal vents in the literature has key implications for the future appraisal of intrusion-related outgassing effects on the global climate such as those related to the Palaeocene Eocene Thermal Maximum, along with subbasalt petroleum prospectivity where they may alter maturation and migration pathways.

Disponível on-line no endereço www.igc.usp.br/geologiausp -121 - ResumoNa Bacia Potiguar (NE do Brasil), rochas cretáceas (arenitos, siltitos, folhelhos, calcários) são intrudidas por corpos básicos do Paleógeno e Neógeno. Como resultado, formam-se buchitos, rochas pirometamórficas indicativas de pressões muito baixas e altíssimas temperaturas. Observações de campo permitiram distinguir buchitos claros (BCs) e buchitos escuros (BEs), os quais foram investigados com estudos de petrografia, microssonda eletrônica e difração de raios-X. Os BCs contêm abundantes clastos de quartzo circundados por acículas radiais de tridimita, além de fenocristais de sanidina e clinopiroxênio incluídos na matriz vítrea. Os BEs são compostos predominantemente por microcristais de Fe-cordierita (secaninaíta), mullita, armalcolita, ilmenita e espinélio, dispersos em uma matriz criptocristalina escura. Quimicamente, os BCs são mais ricos em SiO 2 (~76,7%) e K 2 O (~5,7%) e empobrecidos em Al 2 O 3 (~12,8%) em relação aos BEs (respectivamente ~51,5, ~0,2 e ~42,7%). Com base em diagramas da literatura, no hábito dos cristais (aciculares, alongados, às vezes ocos) e no significativo conteúdo de material vítreo, considera-se que o líquido formado pela fusão a ~1100 -1150 o C de material sedimentar resfriou rapidamente a temperaturas elevadas e pressões abaixo de 1 kbar. Os resultados obtidos são relevantes em termos petrológicos e podem igualmente ter implicação econômica, já que grande número de corpos básicos intrude reservatórios de hidrocarbonetos.Palavras-chaves: Bacia Potiguar; Magmatismo; Pirometamorfismo. AbstractIn the Potiguar Basin (NE Brazil), cretaceous rocks (sandstones, siltstones, shales, limestones) are intruded by Paleogene to Neogene basic bodies. As a result, were formed buchites, pyrometamorphic rocks indicating very low pressures and very high temperatures. Field descriptions permitted distinguishing light buchites (LB) and dark buchites (DB), which were investigated throughout petrographic, electron microprobe and X-ray diffraction studies. LBs contain abundant clasts of quartz surrounded by radial tridymite needles, besides phenocrysts of sanidine and clinopyroxene included in a vitreous groundmass. DBs have mainly microcrystals of Fe-cordierite (sekaninaite), mullite, armalcolite, ilmenite and spinel, dispersed within a black cryptocrystalline matrix. Chemically, LBs are richer in SiO 2 (~76.7%) and K 2 O (~5.7%) and poorer in Al 2 O 3 (~12.8%) when compared to DBs (respectively ~51.5, ~0.2 and ~42.7%). Based on phase diagrams published in the literature, the habit of crystals (acicular, elongated sometimes hollow crystals) and the significant content of glassy material we consider that the liquid formed by melting at ~1100 -1150 o C of sedimentary material cooled quickly at very high temperatures and pressures below 1 kbar. The results obtained are relevant in petrological terms, and may also have economic implications since a large number of basic bodies intrude rocks with hydrocarbon reservoirs.
