Macrophage activation syndrome or septic arthritis

Abstract: We present an interesting case of macrophage activation syndrome in a 2-year-old, with no previous rheumatological diagnoses, incorrectly diagnosed with septic arthritis, to highlight the diagnostic difficulties, especially in small hospital units.
