Macroeconomic Determinants of Inclusive Growth in Pakistan: An ARDL Approach

Abstract: There is increasing concern that growth in most part of the world in not distributed equitably. This is particularly the situation in Pakistan, where the economic growth is uneven and biased toward the affluent. This study aims to present empirical analysis to characterize the association between inclusive growth and its macro-economic determinants in Pakistan. In this context, the study employs annual time-series data for 23 years (1994-2017). In order to obtain long-run and short-term results, both auto-regr… Show more

“…Infrastructure and government spending also impact inclusive growth. Infrastructure and government spending had a positive and significant impact on Pakistan's inclusive growth from 1994 to 2017 in the short and long term (Anand et al 2019). Research conducted in Nigeria using a dataset of 5000-panel households shows that road infrastructure development reduces the poverty of households in the country (Aderogba and Adegboye 2019).…”

“…if the alternative hypothesis is accepted, then the short-run and the long-run results are presented separately. The ARDL uses the Error Correction Model (ECM) to obtain the short-run results, and the error correction term with lag (ECT(-1)) in the ECM should be negative and statistically significant (Anand et al 2019).…”

“…For the long-term cointegration an F-statistics is employed. Error Correction Model (ECM) is adopted in ARDL to obtain the short-run results and the error correction term with lag (ECT(-1)) in the ECM should be negative and statistically significant (Anand et al, 2019). Some diagnostic tests should be used to reveal the robustness of study models having time series.…”
