M-O Properties of Pulsed Laser Annealed Tb-Fe-Co Thin Films

Abstract: -Thin films of Tb-Fe-Co have been annealed using a pulsed Nd: Y AG laser in an attempt to investigate the effects of this on the magnetic and magneto-optic properties of the material. Results imply that as the laser energy density is increased the hysteresis characteristics of the film are changed due to an oxidation zone increasing in thickness. This has the added effect of reducing the energy associated with magnetic domain formation.
