“…3 These properties have also led to intense interest in these materials as novel solvents in a range of electrochemical applications. 4 Particular interest has been shown in the self-aggregation of amphiphilic molecules in the ILs, such as micelles, [5][6][7][8][9] microemulsions, [10][11][12][13][14][15] liquid crystals, 16 ion gels, 17 and vesicles. 18 The microstructure and unique properties of these aggregates have been significantly investigated.…”

“…The BmimPF 6 system yields fewer phases relative to the water system, and generally requires higher BPS-n concentrations to induce phase transitions. Evaluation of the effects of addition of a third component e.g., C 12 OH and C 12 to the binary system on the phase behavior showed that the addition of C 12 OH results in the I 1 -H 1 -D phase transition at a given composition ratio of BPS-20/BmimPF 6 of 50/50 in wt . The observed phase change is satisfactorily rationalized by localized solubilization of the third material into the surfactant assemblies.…”

“…Besides, Chen and coworkers reported that nonaqueous lyotropic liquid crystalline phases of an amphiphilic triblock copolymer P123 (EO 20 PO 70 EO 20 ) formed in bmimPF 6 [60]. A hexagonal liquid crystal phase (H 1 ) formed at 38-52% of P123 in bmimPF 6 , while at 65-87% of P123, the SAXS peak positions accord with the ratio 1:2:3, indicating a lamellar phase (La).…”
