Abstract: Radiotherapy (RT)-induced lymphopenia may hinder the anti-tumor immune response. Preoperative RT or chemo-RT (CRT) for locally advanced rectal cancer is a standard therapeutic approach, while immunotherapy has been approved for mismatch repair-deficient rectal tumors.
