Lung ischaemia–reperfusion injury in a canine model: dual-energy CT findings with pathophysiological correlation

Abstract: both contributed equally to this article. Objective: To evaluate dual-energy CT (DECT) findings of pulmonary ischaemic-reperfusion injury (PIRI) and its pathophysiological correlation in the canine model. Methods: A PIRI model was established in 11 canines, utilizing closed pectoral balloon occlusion. Two control canines were also included. For the PIRI model, the left pulmonary artery was occluded with a balloon, which was deflated and removed after 2 h. DECT was performed before, during occlusion and at 2, 3 … Show more

“…At present, BK acts as a trigger of pretreatment. Additionally, BK acts on the endothelium of the BK-β2 receptor, which induces a rapid and transient translocation of protein kinase C, triggering the release of endogenous NO and PGI2 ( 8 , 13 ). NO is capable of inhibiting the adhesion of PMN and endothelial cells, promotes the relaxation of blood vessels and reduces vascular permeability.…”
