Luminescent organo‐polysiloxanes containing complexed lanthanide ions

Abstract: In this study, a type of polysiloxane with the ester as the functional side group was prepared via a hydrosilylation reaction. The functionalized polysiloxane was then allowed to complex with Tb 3+ and Eu 3+ ions. Fourier transform infrared, ultraviolet absorption spectra and 1 H-NMR, 13 C-NMR and 29 Si-NMR spectra were used to confirm the modification. Differential scanning calorimetry and thermal gravity analysis were used to study the polysiloxane's thermal properties. The complexes' luminescence spectra we… Show more

“…The presence of bands at 593 nm, 650 nm and 688 nm associated with the characteristic transitions of 5 D 0 / 7 F 1 , 5 D 0 / 7 F 3 and 5 D 0 / 7 F 4 , respectively. The transitions of 5 D 0 / 7 F 0 at 580 nm could not be observed for all the cases, which means no inverse center for Eu(III) ion in those complexes [18,41]. It is known that the 5 D 0 / 7 F 2 transition induced by the electric dipole moment is very sensitive to the coordination environment of the Eu(III) ion, while the 5 D 0 / 7 F 1 transition arose from the magnetic dipole is less sensitive to the coordination environment.…”

“…The luminescent properties of siloxane-based PAMAM dendrimerselanthanide complexes were investigated according to the similar procedures described elsewhere [18,36]. A typical procedure is that: Under argon atmosphere, a known amount of G0.5eG2.0 (0.050 mmol) was dissolved in 10 ml dry THF, and a stoichiometric proportion of Ln(NO 3 ) 3 $6H 2 O (Ln ¼ Eu, Tb) was added to the solution.…”

“…[16] In our previous work we have prepared many kinds of poly(dimethylsiloxane)-lanthanide-ion composites with excellent luminescent properties. [17][18][19][20] However, the simple coordination of lanthanide ions to polysiloxanes to form composites results in poor mechanical properties. Therefore a new method of preparing silicone luminescent composites should be developed.…”
