Luminescent and scintillation characteristics of RE(Nb<inf>x</inf>Ta<inf>1&#x2212;x</inf>)O<inf>4</inf> compounds (RE=Y or Gd)

Abstract: Samples of undoped yttrium and gadolinium tantalo-niobates with common formulae RE(Nb x Tal __ J04, where RE = Yor Gd, and x = 0-1, have been obtained by solid-state reaction. Optical and luminescent characteristics in visible and UV spectral regions have been studied. The most intense luminescence is determined for yttrium tantalo niobates with intermediate value of Nb content in the matrix and for heavy Nb -doped gadolinium tantalo-niobates.
